Location: Liberia

Collaboration:

This project focused on advancing Liberia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process for medium-term investment planning in climate-sensitive sectors and in coastal areas. It was funded by Green Climate Fund (GCF) and implemented by UNDP and its partners including the National Disaster Management Agency. It supports decision makers in taking appropriate decisions for better disaster preparedness and risk reduction, with significant contributions to four key outcome areas:
(i) strengthening institutional frameworks and coordination for implementation of the NAP and disaster risk reduction (DRR) processes;
(ii) expanding the knowledge base for scaling up climate change adaptation (CCA) and DRR;
(iii) building capacity for integrating CCA and DRR into development planning, and budgeting processes/systems; and
(iv)) financing mechanisms for scaling up CCA and DRR.
